Private Car Service (PCS) Privacy Notice

When you use PCS, you trust us with your personal data. We’re committed to keeping that trust. That starts with helping you understand our privacy practices.
This notice describes the personal data (“data”) we collect, how it’s used and shared, and your choices regarding this data. We recommend that you read this along with our privacy overview, which highlights key points about our privacy practices.

This notice applies to users of PCS’s services anywhere in the world, including users of PCS’s apps, websites, features, or other services.

This notice describes how PCS and its affiliates collect and use data. This notice applies to all PCS users globally, unless they use a service covered by a separate privacy notice. This notice specifically applies to:

  • Riders: individuals who request or receive transportation and related services via their PCS account.
  • Drivers: individuals who provide transportation to Riders individually or through partner transportation companies.

Our privacy practices are subject to applicable laws in the places in which we operate. This means that we engage in the practices described in this notice in a particular country or region only if permitted under the laws of those places. In addition, please note the following:

B. Data controller and transfer

PCS Software Services are the data controllers for the data collected in connection with use of PCS’s services. PCS Software Services is the data controller for the data collected in connection with use of PCS’s services everywhere else.

C. How we use personal data

PCS uses data to enable reliable and convenient transportation, delivery, and other products and services. We also use such data:

  • to enhance the safety and security of our users and services
  • for customer support
  • for research and development
  • to enable communications between users
  • for marketing and advertising
  • to send non-marketing communications to users
  • In connection with legal proceedings

C. Cookies and third-party technologies

  • Use of Cookies: PCS and its partners use cookies and other identification technologies on apps, websites, emails, and online ads as described in this notice and PCS’s Cookie Notice.

  • Purpose of Cookies: Cookies are small text files stored on browsers or devices and are used to:

    • Authenticate users

    • Remember user preferences and settings

    • Determine content popularity

    • Deliver and measure effectiveness of advertising campaigns

E. Data Retention and Deletion

  • Retention Period: PCS retains user data as long as necessary to provide services and comply with legal obligations.

  • Factors Influencing Retention: Retention depends on data type, user category, purpose, legal requirements, safety, security, fraud prevention, and account issues (e.g., outstanding credit or unresolved claims).

  • Examples:

    • Life of user account: User profile information and credentials

    • 7 years: Tax compliance data (e.g., driver trip/delivery records)

    • Safety/fraud purposes: Incomplete driver applications (1 year), rejected applications (7 years)

    • After account deletion requests: Data may be retained if legally required or for safety/fraud prevention

  • Account Deletion Requests: Users may request deletion through Settings > Privacy in the PCS app or via PCS’s website. Data will be deleted unless retention is required for legal, safety, security, or fraud reasons.

  • Typical Deletion Timeline:

    • Drivers/delivery persons: Retained for statutory period post-request

    • Riders/order recipients: Generally deleted within 90 days


IV. Choice and Transparency

PCS provides users with tools to access and control their data, including:

  • Privacy Settings

  • Device Permissions

  • In-App Ratings Pages

  • Marketing Choices

PCS also allows users to request access, updates, deletion, or restriction of data processing.


A. Privacy Settings

  • Location Data Collection (Riders & Order Recipients): Users can enable/disable location tracking via Settings > Privacy > Location.

  • Share Live Location: Riders may share real-time location with drivers.

  • Emergency Data Sharing: Location and ride details may be shared with emergency services (police, fire, ambulance).

  • Notifications – Account & Trip Updates: Mandatory for using PCS; users can select delivery method.

  • Notifications – Discounts & News: Users can opt in/out through Settings > Privacy.

  • Communications from Restaurants/Merchants: Optional opt-in during orders; can unsubscribe via Settings > Account > Data Sharing.


B. Device Permissions

  • Device platforms require user permission to access certain data. Users should check device settings for controlling permissions.


C. In-App Ratings Pages

  • Two-Way Rating System: Drivers and riders rate each other (1–5). Ratings are associated with accounts and visible to relevant users.

  • Accountability: Supports a safe, respectful environment.

  • Access to Ratings:

    • Riders: Main menu and Privacy Center

    • Drivers: Profile photo in PCS Driver app

    • Delivery persons: Rated by recipients, restaurants, and merchants


D. Marketing and Advertising Choices

  • Personalized Marketing: Users can opt-in/out of PCS communications (emails, push notifications, in-app messages).

  • PCS Ads: Users can choose if data is used for personalized ads on third-party apps/websites.

  • Restaurant & Merchant Ads: Users can control use of order/search history for personalized ads.

  • Third-Party Ads: Users can manage personalized ads for third-party products/services.

E. User Data Requests

  • Accessing Data: Users can view profile, trip/order history, account summary via app or website.

  • Data Portability: Users can request copies of their data.

  • Changing/Updating Data: Name, phone, email, payment method, and photo can be edited; corrections can be requested.

  • Deleting Data: Users may request account deletion through PCS Privacy Center.

  • Objections & Restrictions: Users may request limits on data use or object to processing based on PCS’s legitimate interests. PCS may continue processing if required or permitted by law.

  • Appeals: U.S. users can request a review if PCS denies or cannot meet a data request.


V. Updates to This Notice

  • PCS may occasionally update this notice.

  • Significant changes will be communicated via PCS apps or email.

  • Users are encouraged to periodically review the notice.

  • Continued use of PCS after updates constitutes consent to the updated notice, as permitted by law.
